Kevin Onur Dural, MBA is an American law student and former political candidate. He currently attends South Texas College of Law Houston (STCL). He was an analyst at Blue Group International and previously sought election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’s 18th congressional district.
Early life and education
Dural was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in The Woodlands, Texas. He is the son of Turkish immigrants; his family spent part of his early childhood in inner-city Chicago before relocating to Texas. Both of his parents later became physicians.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He is a law student at South Texas College of Law Houston.
Career
Dural has worked in public engagement, political strategy, and policy-related communications, including association with the Texas Public Policy Foundation. His activities have included stakeholder relations, media strategy, and community outreach. He has also participated in interfaith and community engagement initiatives.
In journalism, he served as a newswriter for The Daily Texan, covering university research, intellectual property, and scientific topics. He later worked as managing editor of Cavs Nation.
As a partner at Blue Group International, he has focused on the development, structuring, and advancement of infrastructure and industrial projects, including rail and recycling initiatives, often through consortiums and public-private partnerships.
Political career
In 2024, following the death of Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, Dural sought election to Texas’s 18th congressional district (a heavily Democratic Houston-area seat).
He ran as a Republican in the special election on November 5, 2024, to fill the remainder of the term. Dural lost, receiving 9.9% of the vote.
